THE MANILA BONSAI (SHORT ANIMATION)

A magical bonsai with the ability to affect gravity.

"Dad kept the Manila Bonsai Tree by his windowsill. The stems started to glow and it started sprouting leaves sporadically. It's presence controlled gravity. It altered the flow of water. It seemed to affect gravity but in the process created life as well. We still have no idea how this happening."

I wanted to try and nail the vhs old school aesthetic for this short animation as well. I used Photogrammetry (Reality Capture), Zbrush, Cinema 4D, Octane Render, Substance Painter, Substance Designer + Adobe After Effects (Fully animated raindrop material), Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro to create everything. The audio itself is affected by inverse gravity as well, it plays in reverse. I feel like the audio almost creates a heavenly or magical atmosphere to the bonsai's existence.
